LANSING -- State labor officials say they expect the teen unemployment rate will drop slightly this summer as more applicants find work.

The Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget said Tuesday that the teen unemployment rate is expected to drop from 28.6 percent to 26.4 percent. As a result, 6,200 fewer teens are projected to be jobless.

Officials say the teen job outlook has been improving along with the rest of the state's labor market but it remains a highly competitive market for those in the hunt.
