A major item on the agenda is an agreement with the ?Raytown Sports Association?, or the ?KC Metro Youth Sports? which is what the name was changed to in August, or the ?Raytown Baseball Association? as they are now calling the organization on their website. http://www.raytownbaseball.com/index.html
From the Raytown Baseball Associations website.
Raytown Baseball Association formerly known as ?KC Metro Youth Sports? has entered into a partnership with Raytown Parks and Recreation to form our new baseball league. We have moved from our former location on Frost Road to the Little Blue Trace Park on 350-Highway and 87th Street. We will be renovating the four fields and upgrading the complex. It gives a newer facility with greater access via 350-Highway.
Raytown Baseball Association will be running the baseball program under the umbrella of the Raytown Parks Department. By this partnership we have priority rights to the Little Blue Trace Parks fields for our games and access to all other Raytown Parks fields for practices.
Multiple sources have stated that the plan is to close the old Raytown Sports Association park, sell the property and have baseball leagues in the Raytown Parks Little Blue Trace facility.? The only named potential buyer for the old facility that has been mentioned by multiple sources is the quarry adjacent to the old facility. This has not been confirmed at this time.
EDITORIAL
It is a shame to see the end of a facility that so many people helped build and maintain for years. A facility that the original builders intent was to go to the City of Raytown if the Association was ever to fold.? Former members of the Association remember that Mayor Bower alone donated over $30,000 in labor to design the facility and its buildings.?
From the original articles of incorperation
(d) To cease its corporate activities and surrender its corporate franchise, following strict compliance with Section 355.230, Revised Statutes of Missouri, 1949, as ame~ded (V.A.M.S.) and it is further provided that upon compliance with said section of said statute as aforesaid, that any remaining assets be distributed to the City of Raytown, Missouri, as a supplement to or furtherance of a recreation program for children under the control and supervision of said city, or to any non profit corporation or organization engaged in conducting a public recreation program for the City of Raytown to be selected by the last Board of Directors.
