Senior Risk & Compliance Monitoring Manager - Manchester

A leading UK Insurance provider is currently looking to bring on board a Senior Manager who will specialise in the design and implemention of the Risk & Compliance monitoring plan that assess the quality of risk management across the business. This will initially focus on regulatory risk and will eventually cover all risk types.

Due to strengthening the division and group practice they require an influential manager who specialises in regulatory risk and will be able to embed a new risk & compliance methodology and plan

Main duties of the role include:

  • Support the Risk & Compliance Officer with the design and delivery of a risk based monitoring programme which is based in the key risks being driven, business model and organisational objectives.
  • Engage with Boards, Committees and the wider business community as the plan develops.
  • Develop and maintain a monitoring methodology, policy, procedures and supporting materials which includes the provision of formal quarterly written as well as ad-hoc updates on the progress of the plan, changes to it as well as its outputs.
  • Conduct a range of risk & compliance monitoring reviews against key business processes where there is a regulatory conduct risk.
  • Update the issues log and risk & breaches registers to ensure that issues identified during monitoring activity are recorded, reported and resolved adequately by the business area/s.
  • Assist with monitoring the risk & compliance aspects of acquisition and integration projects.
  • Ensure prompt escalation of critical and significant risk & compliance issues to Risk & Compliance Officer, Chief Risk Officer and Risk Committee as necessary,
  • Utilise Risk & Compliance team expertise and external research to maintain awareness of external regulatory influences and developments and adjust the monitoring plan as necessary.
  • Lead the design and delivery of education and training to the business in respect of the Risk & Compliance monitoring approach.
  • Design & deliver reliable, timely and relevant reports on the monitoring risks that will be escalated as necessary to the Risk Committee.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Extensive knowledge & understanding of FSA principles & rules applicable to the General Insurance marketplace.
  • Broad knowledge of regulatory and legislative requirements. E.g. ICOBS, DP, AML
  • Relevant experience in a risk, compliance/legal or audit Function in UK financial servicesProfessional impact at Director level and below
  • Team player (and leader when required)
  • Deals with potential conflicts / issues in an open, honest & timely manner
